George Barakos was born in Patras in 1985. He started playing percussion at the age of 7 when he joined the municipal music of Patras (Bantina) taking lessons from his teachers Andreas Giannopoulos and Kostas Vamvas. With the latter he continued taking lessons for 5 years on drums. At the age of 19 he started classical percussion with Maxim Mankovski and currently is in the senior year of his classical studies. At the age of 20, because of his previous engagement with traditional dancing (since 5 years of age), he started experientially learning traditional percussion sometimes taking lessons from Nikos Forlidas, Sergios Voulgaris and others. He works as percussion teacher at “Anagenisi IKE” private school. In his long run as a musician he has participated at numerous concerts in Grece (Patras, Athens, Thessaloniki, Volos, etc.) and abroad (Turkey, Croatia, Poland, Serbia etc.) joining groups and orchestras (Little Band and Municipal Band of Patras, chamber music orchestra of the Municipal Conservatory of Patras, “Kapos Etsi” group, music workshop of Pamikrasiatikou Sindesmou of Patras, traditional group “Gaea’s Breath”). He also joined important musicians and interpreters as Andreas Zafeiropoulos, Giannis Balafoutis, Giannis Bezos, Nina Lotsari etc., playing various Greek and international musical styles. Since October 2017 he is a member of Flamarabenco taking part in their first studio album. .
